What makes you think you are confined to the hotel when you get there. If someonbe is trying to wind you up then they have succeeded! Very nice place, nice people - pity about the Yanks that holiday there!! Enjoy every minute of the Yucatan if you go! Wonderful place!!! |

Very safe. I've been there a few times. The beaches are great, hotels are great, wonderful places to go. Try to go see the Dole Plant & Xcaret. Check out the link....beautiful. Just be aware of the water. It can make you sick. Most of the hotels water it now purified, but ask to be sure. Have fun! |

Cancun is very safe. Just follow the same rules you follow in your own town,village,city or state when you go out. Don't flash money, jewels, watches etc. Take enough money when you go out to cover what you will be spending that night. Don't carry your life on your person. In other words don't make yourself a target. Be aware of your surroundings.
Relax and enjoy the people, the beaches,the sights and the food. |

It is generally safe, but it is best to stay around other tourists and tourist areas. Do be careful though and do stay safe. |

Cancun is very safe, I've been over 30 times and never had a problem, I've even been by myself and feel very safe leaving my hotel at night even to go to the strip etc. |
