they have been working a lot in touristic areas, mostly all of the beaches have been cleaned, and it is cheaper than before you wont regret

I just went to Cancun last wek and got back on Saturay the10th some of the hotels are not fully ready yet but there are alot of hotels that are up and running and very beautiful. It dependds on your age and then you should consider what hotel you want make sure it's ALL INCLUSIVE which most are it saves alot of money. As for other parts of Cancun they are beautiful I also was there last summer the week right after the hurricane hight and things were still beautiful you should go to cancun .com and click on hurricanes and it should give you information also just ask your travel agent they are very helpful. Hope this helps have fun be aware August in Cancun is the HOTTEST over 100 degrees.

My friend had her sister and such stuck in a 'delapitated' hotel in Cancun last year. They were there during the storm.

We went between 2-3 weeks after it hit and the only thing we ran into was a bunch of SEAWEED.

Bars, Clubs, and most hotels looked wonderful as ever.

I went to Cozumel in March. It is just south of Cancun and was hit very severely as well.

It was back in operation, especially in the tourist areas, but the poorer areas were a disaster.

We knew this before we went, and went anyway. We thought it important to spend a little money down there to help them rebuild.

I went in april, a lot of the hotels are still damaged but all the tourist type bars and restraunts are up and running. When you book your hotel be clear you don't want a hotel that was barely renovated, what they do is just get the minimal done so they can rent them out. (half *ss job) So keep in mind, you get what you pay fore. So if you think your getting a good deal thiers a reason. I sugest the melia hotels and omni, and Rio.

have fun and have a tequila for me!

well i went in feb,2006, a lot of the hotels were still closed and the resturants were just re-opening and one of the new malls, not much beach left. but had a good time

I'm also planning a trip at the end of august and have doing some research about all of that. You should go to tripadvisor.com and put in for hotels at cancun. U can find some good info...good luck.
