Is December a good time to go to cancun?

It's not going to be cold. My husband and I went in January and the weather was so great that, when I read a newspaper which talked about a snowstorm in northeastern U.S., I was confused because I thought we were in the summer! Make sure you book on the Atlantic coast, not on the northern tip, and book at least a 4-star. You might get rain, but it will be warm! The beach there is nice, but has lots of waves. On the downside, there are a lot of Americans.
I would go to Cuba instead!

i live in merida when i'm not studying and alot of us go to cancun for a couple weeks before christmas and then again for new years, its always a good laugh and its low season so if you're going to be staying in a hotel you're not going to burn such a big hole in your wallet! it definitely wont be cold, i can assure you that - might rain a bit but if you're like me and mis compas then that wont matter since theres plenty of nightclubs (the reason we go!)

I went to Cancun five years in a row in Dec. and must warn you that you can get rain. It is a problem there at that time.

It's never cold in Cancun. December should be ok, but you may still get the tail end of the hurricane season. Cancun is a dump by the way. It's just one long strip of hotels, a grotty town and full of drunken American college kids

I went the first week of January and it was a bit chilly. I mean, we would comfortably lay out on the beach during the day but our hotel pool was too cold to get in to ( no one was in it). Make sure to bring something warm to wear at night because it really cools down. I thought it was a nice time of year to go because it wasn't very busy. But, I am not sure what type of atmosphere you are looking for.
I went in March this past year and it was super hot and I loved it much better that way - never left the pool swim up bar. The beaches were still pretty small so couldn't lay out there and the waves were all white caps to the ocean was a no go - kind of a bummer. I preferred the warmer weather of March but not all the crazy high school kids running around crazy because it was their first time drinking at a bar legally.

By all means, GO! Birds fly south for the winter and so should you. December is after the hurricane season and the weather is great. Moon Palace Resort all inclusive package was one of the best trips I've been on. Have fun!

Of course, although if you wanted go to Cancun you should be booked, because will be full the rest of the year.

My daughter went in October 2 years ago and got caught up in hurricane Wilma so I wouldn't recommend Cancun.

I heard from a resort attendant that December is actually a pretty busy season for them, b/c of Xmas. I don't think it would be very cold. Close to the equator.

Any time is a good time to go to Cancun

For sure it will be a lot warmer than Chicago.
