It's safe for sure. Just avoid Oaxaca State and the border cities. The rest of the country is quite safe for tourists.

In case of water it's only referred to tube water. Bottled water is quite safe to drink.

Yeah drink maxican beer that came from the bad water of mexico. I think it would be best to look for the water that is shipped from usa.

Mexico is a great place to vacation. We go to Cabo San Lucas 2 or 3 times a year! Not once have I had any sort of problem. Every January we stay at Pueblo Bonito Resort. A little pricey but worth every penny. When I go in April and sometimes November I stay at the Bungalows Hotel. It's a small, cozy and cheap hotel in town just three block from the beach. Can't beat the great food, clubs, and beaches but the best part is the Sun..Sun...Sun! (I live in Seattle) :)

Yes, pretty much. Only saty away from Oaxaca, Chiapas and Chihuahua. The rest is pretty safe.

Same cautions as always (dont walk alone at night in non turistic areas, drink bottled water, take registered cabs, try traveling in group).

In general, yes. This time might not be the best one for visiting Oaxaca, though. As in any complex country/city, it is just a matter of being sensible.

Tourists are safe in Mexico as long as they behave themselves. If you act like a drunken idiot, you are likely to have trouble. US Ambassador Tony Garza has issued warnings about crime in the Border towns, but the incidents of murder are confined to the drug business turf wars. Go, have a good time and don't fret, its a wonderful country. Bottled water is available everywhere, Mexico is the largest consumer of the product next to the US, produced by Nestle and Coca Cola. Some water information seen on this site is at least thirty years old!

Sure.. people go to Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Porta Viallarta all the time. But answerer number one is right.. drinking local water is a bad idea.. however Mexican beer is very good.

Growing up on the border, I'd say yeah--depending on where you go. A lot of tourist vacation spots welcome Americans who are more than happy to spend money. I recently vacationed in Cozumel and there were more white Americans than in my hometown! It is totally safe, like I said, depending on where you choose to go. Have FUN!!!

My husband and I have been going there for 13 years! We stay at the Royal Islander. This is a beautiful 5-star resort. (However there are rentals for as little as $50.00 U.S. per night on the websight "Mexicondo.com" - many are timeshares so you usually have to book an entire week, but the place is spotless, there are 3 resturants on sight, a small grocery store, daily maid service except Sundays and the pool & beach are absolutely gorgeous.) We do what the resort tells everyone to do to stay safe: use common sense, don't walk on the beach at night, don't go alone at night downtown, & don't drink too much. We usually take the city bus everywhere and have had no problems.

I have no idea, but you should try to steal a low paying job while your down there then bring all the money back here.
