As dangerous as ANY other country. Not at all if you're a smart tourist. And I don't think people can answer this if they have only 'heard' things about Mexico and not actually being here as tourists or whatever. |

that's a general question as there is many places in the U.S. that are dangerous for tourist.. most places in Mexico are safe if you watch where you are and your surroundings .. many border towns have some really bad places but in the rest of the country i have found the people to be very friendly and have enjoyed my stay. |

anywhere is dangerous for tourists, just stay out of the bad areas. I went to Mexico and had a blast. The natives were very nice, becuase they want you to spend your money. Stay in the touristy areas and you'll have fun. Go off the beaten bath, you may find trouble......but that's just like any city right here in the US. |

Meh, lived in Mexico City for 15 years and I've never been mugged and I wear gold and silver jewelry a lot (though I don't flash 500 pesos bills everywhere either). You just have to know which neighborhoods are dangerous, avoid walking alone in dark alleys at night in shoddy areas and watch your pockets for pickpockets in the subway (I know a lot of people who got their cellphones stolen that way).
It's the same kind of logic you'd use in any major US city. I actually felt a bit safer in Mexico City than in Los Angeles. |

Yes,I hear that Mexico city is one of the most dangerous cities in the world(mexicans too),but is a solution to keep yourself from that: if u want to visit Mexico,go there in a group of persons(tourists) with a guide or ask for a reliable person who can help you. |

I was born in Mexico city and sad to say mexico city is one of the most dangerous cities in mexico. If you go there dont wear any gold or silver chains or something they can take from you easily. They do love tourist and ppl there are really nice.Im sure you'll have a blast!
