I am a American living in about 30 min. outside of Monterry. I agree that there is good and bad in every city in the world and in ever type of person. I have been to many cities in Mexico, and in the US. I would have to say that all though Monterrey is a beautiful city, it is the most dangersous city I have ever lived in. It is dif, not the safest city in Monterrey. I would have to say either Matamoros, or either San Luis would be the safest cities. You have to be careful while shopping in the central of Monterrey, and if you are American I would not advise it at all. You go into a shop and buy what you would like. Owners of the stores have people who work for them on the street. As soon as you walk outside the store with your purchase and down the street you are robbed and the people take the store back their products. Then the owners resale the same merchadise. It is not just one or two stores but a major portion of them, about 80%-81% of all clothing stores and some grocers. Gangs are becoming unbearable and out of control. If you truly want to be in Monterrey, then I would advice you to move to a surrounding area.

Its a beautiful city, a lot like the states. Many people speak english. I'm from there. In San Pedro Garcia. Clean, friendly and pretty. There are the normal dangers of course, like any place. Any more questions, ask me! Have fun

There are many safe, big cities in Mexico. Just like there are murders and robberies every single day in Houston, New York, Miami and Los Angeles, you have to be aware and try to avoid the fear factor.

Monterrey is a lovely city with great shopping, food and university.

i have actually been there and its really nice... its WAY better than Mexico City and ALOT safer... pretty nice people there too so if you move there i bet you are gonna have a good time... (good places to visit too)

if you compare it to mexico city, monterrey is the vatican, but is not very safe though. Many murders hacen every day, a lot of drug dealers live in there, but is such a beautiful and glamorous city that it doesn't matter how unsafe can it be..

XOXO
