Is baja a city in MExico? ?

I know it's the first word in a state in the north, but is it the same or a city?

Baja is the quickie way of referring to the region comprised of Baja California (which lies to the North), and Baja California Sur, which lies to the south, as in "sur" which means south. Interestingly enough, unlike the US where it is North Carolina and South Carolina and North Dakota and South Dakota, In Mexico it is just Baja California and South Baja California. This would be like it being Carolina and South Carolina.
However there is a good reason for this, California, USA used to be part of Mexico where it was known as Alta California, meaning Upper California, and it's complement to the South was Baja California or Lower California. The US took Alta California territory and it was name California, while Mexico kept Baja California, and added a Southern Baja California. I suppose Baja Baja California would make for a more interesting name though, hehe! Hope this helps, if it does, I'd appreciate the ten points, thanks!

No, Baja California (Baja) and Baja California Sur are two states that make up a peninsula on the western side of the country.

the guy above me is right, it is to states in mexico, there is no city by its name, at least not in mexico.. you most likely know it by Cabo san lucas

Smokey
"baja" refers to a region, not a state. Baja means lower, hence the term baja california (lower california).

ye
Baja is short for Baja California. Its the western end of Mexico in the Pacific. If you're going there, you're lucky..
