Its as dangerous to live in mexico as it is to live in the US. Just depends on where you live. Most young americans go to dirty places and try to get away with a budget of 20 dollars for a weekend for hotel and drinks... Of course they have disturbing experiences. I live in mexico and am more afraid of living in the us than i am of living here, but youve watched too many movies, everybody. The only place that i would tell you to watch out for is mexico city cus u get mugged and kidnapped if u dont watch your back. Its dirty i you go to a dirty place.... Its like, if you watch movies about texas, you think its just made up of dirty people sitting around in gas stations... but when you go there u see houston and dallas etc and you realise its just exaggerations people make. I reccoment places like guadalajara, monterrey, san luis and puerto vallarta. |

Of course it all depends. Maybe Mexico City is dangerous and dirty, but it's also the bigest city in the world, so go figure. Personally, I don't like it (I live in Northern Mexico). Also it depends on what zone of Mexico City you live at. Anyway, besides that, Mexico is a great country to live. In central Mexico there are a lot of beautiful colonial cities, like Morelia, Guanajuato, Puebla, etc...then you have the beaches like Manzanillo, Mazatlan, Acapulco, Cancún (obviously full of tourists). Then you get the jungle in Chiapas and Yucatán. You get the desert in the North.
Don't be scared, it's not dangerous, only if you're involved in illegal activities LOL (but that'd be anywhere in the world). People in the U.S. think the worst of us, but we have excellent healthcare, very good doctors, all the commodities just like you in the states, I don't know what they're afraid of. |

Many US and Canadian citizens live in Mexico and find it to be a delightful experience. Young people should be careful in the Border towns, sometimes their behaviors invite criminals. Anything can happen to you anywhere in the world. |

First for all the brainless people answering here, if you never been in Mexico do not give you opinions... if you been in a place where there are drugs and violence, what kind of person are you?? there are nice quiet towns and of course if you want to live in Mexico city, you need to know which areas are the most dangerous but i won't recommend you Mexico city to live, except if you have to work there |

As dangerous as you get expose to bad people or areas that are robbers.
Has serious security problems, but you can avoid, by taking care by yourself and this problem is not in all the country.
Unfortunately yes if you are in Mexico City, it has pollution, but you can do many many things without exposing your life so is just part what they say.
People just say even if they do not know almost anything!!! |

Hi, if you want to live in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey or any other larger city it is dangerous, but, if you choose a small town like Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, Morelia or any beach, is really safe and nice. |

It depends where you live, just like in the US. There are dirty neighborhoods and nice ones. I lived in Mexico City for 10 years and I loved it. Great weather, food, hospitality, museums, theaters, etc. I was never robbed, raped, or anything of that sort. The only problem is that if you look too much like a tourist locals will sometimes charge you higher prices and you can become an easy target for pickpocketers. |

People get killed and their bodies left in the dessert all the time, or banditos roadblock your car, drag you out, shoot you, and take what you have.
Or you park your car for a half hour, come back and it has been stripped.
Or you put your life savings in a bank, come back two weeks later, and they never heard of you.
Try Belize or Costa Rica, which has $20 a month health care for everyone and perfect DSL internet service cheap. |
