We've driven down to PV several times and live there 3-4 mos a year.
It's safe. Just use the common sense thyings you'd d visiting any new ara in the world.
We've nevefr had a problem down there.
In fact, my wife left her camera and cell phone at a restaurant booth one time and hours later when we returned, they had kept it for her at the counter.
I love PV, Nuevo Vallarta, etc.....

Puerto Vallarta is perfectly safe. The main crime is petty theft. The security has been beefed up to prevent even these types of crime. I have half a dozen friends, all middle-ages ladies, going there next week. If they aren't afraid, why would you be?

PV its fine and safe. much safer than any school or paved street in the United States.

YES like tanya said. Puerto Vallarta is one of the most safe citys in mexico and even safer then the city you live at.
