Is it safe for a female to vacation alone in Mexico?

As long as you are staying at a resort, you should be fine. As with travel to ANY foreign country, just be very careful. Do not carry large amounts of money with you. Get traveler's checks. If your resort is a reputable one, they will be able to cash them for you if you need spending money for local shops and so on. Do not wear lots of jewelry. Take vacation clothes, not designer duds. Exploring the nearby towns and markets will be a lot of fun, but do not stay past dark. If your resort is "all-inclusive" they should have some great activities for you anyway... Just to be on the safe side, consider taking a canister of pepper spray. It can be packed in a suitcase, just not in your carry on bags. Good Luck and Have Fun!!!!

Yes, definitely. I lived in cancun for 3 years. They're very friendly and polite. As any woman traveling alone, you can expect a few guys to hit on you. Like everywhere else. But overall, I'd say it is a very safe place (take common simple precautions though, like you would do at any other city).

It would be completely safe as long as you don't get wasted. Otherwise, the worst thing that could happen to you is to be the next leading star on the "Gringas gone wild on Cancun" video.

Go! As long as you don't make a spectacle of yourself: tiny tube tops, micro mini skirts, drunk in public, etc. I've traveled in many countries alone and never had a problem. Even in the all-inclusive accomodations there are predators, so be careful, behave yourself and you'll be fine. Mexico is a wonderful country and the people are worth knowing. Bien viaje.

Going alone on vacation is always a risk. Specially for women. Traveling alone is something anyone should learn. So, before going to Mexico, make sure you know what are you doing. I know women that travel by themselves in South America. But, they have been traveling by themselves a lot.

I wouldn't recommend it. If you do, make sure to bring some pursonal protection with you. (Mace, pepper spray...)

it depends where are you going if you were to go ti Mexico city I would not recommend you to go by your self. but in other suburbs areas they are very friendly, I would go to Merida, Yucatan if I were you

I was in Mexico for 2 weeks and for 1 of those weeks i was by myself and I was convinced it would be dangerous but it wasn't dangerous at all. I got to meet loads of interesting people and saw loads of beautiful places in Mexico City.
Mexicans are very friendly and very helpful. The one thing i would say is that you should not travel with a lot of money and you should carry a photocopy of your passport and try and leave the original in your hotel/hostel.

Yes! I am a single woman traveler and am now living in Mexico. I have been in Cozumel, it is beautifu, you will love it. There are plenty of other american tourists so you will not stick out. Any woman alone anywhere (even the US) will get hit on more frequently, if you're not interested be direct and honest and say NO.
