Is it safe to go to mexico now?

Many Americans live in Mexico and many americans keep going to Mexico, just try to be in safe zones, If you are going to the concert only try to book your Hotel, in a nice Hotel near the place the concert will take place and just take authorized taxis, The Hotel can call one for you. They sometimes have their own taxis too, it will be more expensive but you will feel safer.
If you stay near tourist areas, you should not have a problem just speaking english.
Safe zone I recommend is Polanco

What a bunch of nonsense. I have traveled extensively in Mexico, visiting 19 states and Mexico City. I have been to large cities and small country towns and nobody has followed me or looked at me weirdly. In some places, people were curious or wanted to practice their English with me.

People with no knowledge answer a lot of questions.

You will be fine if you just use your common sense as you would in any large city, particularly in the USA. I have lived in Mexico for 10 years and have no intention of leaving. Don't do anything that will draw attention to yourself such as wearing flashy jewellery, or carrying expensive items such as cameras and ipods. Thousands of tourists visit Mexico every day with no problems. Mexico City is a fantastic place to visit. The border cities are the dangerous places with drugs being smuggled north to satisfy Americans thirst for narcotics and guns being purchased north of the border with the profits.

It all really depends on where you plan to stay. Mexico city isn't that bad at all. Don't believe everything you hear in the news. As long as you are careful and aren't taking risks like walking around really late at night you should be fine. Alot of tourists frequent Mexico city, and the crime is probably as bad as any major city. Be responsible and have fun!

Ok so I am Mexican, I have family in Mexico and I'm scared to death to go there! It's too violent right now over there and yes they can kid nap you for a ransom! I had a family friend come from Mexico with a magazine of beheaded people and the guys showing the heads of as a sign of pride. I know people that pay the kidnappers money weekly just so they wont kidnap them!! Personally where My mom is from Michoacan Mexico after it gets dark a taxi will not drive anyone to the small town my mom is from because people will rob them! Where my dad is from Durango Mexico is where the beheaded magazine came from. Some other really dangerous places are JALISCO JUAREZ ZACATECAS and MEXICO CITY. Idk if you keep up with the news but there have been so many FAMOUS people being killed by these drug dealers in Mexico I will send you some links to check it out for yourself. MY best advise to you is don't go!

I live near the border of Mexico (El Paso) It really depends what part of Mexico your going to travel to. Like for instance Juarez, you should probably aviod. One of my favorite bands (Newsboys) came to Juarez, Mexico and I didn't go because it is very dangerous. It's better if you'd go with a group of people. My bouyfriens went to Juarez because the Band Delerious was going to play there, but he went with a group of guys and they did say they saw a lot of Officers with there guns in the streets, but they made it to the concert ok and came back home ok. So it really all depends where this show is going to take place. Just kinda of really think it threw if it's going to be in Juarez!

Now is not a good time to be visiting Mexico. Violence is rampant up and down the country. American tourists are especially at risk as their families are willing to pay large ransoms to get them back (incentive for kidnappers). If you MUST travel to Mexico, it would be much safer to travel to a resort city and stay on the resort's grounds. Don't wander into any Mexican city proper.

My aunt lives in Mexico (Morelia, capital of Michoacan) and says there have been shootings and much violence in the city. Granted, Morelia is not Mexico City, but Mexico City would probably be worse as it is much bigger.

if u don't, then u really have nothing to worry about. the killings happen only during night. but those haven't been going on lately.
it is dangerous for tourists but if it's u 're favorite then u should totally go.
no low life mexicans should be able to intimidate you.
like if robert pattinson were to be in cuba, i would totally go even if it's disobeying u.s. policies, i would still go because twilight <33 is my favorite.

If you want to go to Mexico at this time I would not go to Mexico city. Many of the crime is taking place in cities like Mexico city. I would go to a safer country to see the band, but if you want to go to Mexico you should go to Cancun where it is more safer and more tourists go.
