People have always reccomended me to take off all jewelry while in Mexico City, for safety reasons. Other cities in Mexico are safer. So I have always followed these guidelines. It is best to play it safe and have lots of fun. I have heard stories where they can snatch jewelry away from you even from your ears and thats got to hurt. It is fun to travel and see the world and experience it so it is a good idea to hear what others have to say when it comes to playing it safe. Enjoy your trips, you will have a lot of memories from them. Have fun. |

Is it safe to wear jewelry in the US or Canada? This is a bit of an exaggerated question. Of course you can wear jewelry here. If you feel that you are in an unsafe situation, take it off, and put it out of sight. I don't think you should wear a 10 karat diamond, but regular jewelry is fine. Just remember, Mexico is just like any other country in the world. You have your dangerous zones and your safer zones. Just use good judgement. |

Whenever I travel, I keep my jewelry to a bare minimum. Most travel agents would tell you the same. Plain, small hoops, and maybe a short chain, and only one ring. Keep it to a minimum. |

chances are, your biggest problem with wearing gold will be the endless number of shop keepers calling you "big spender" and trying to drag you into their "mini-walmart". One thing to remember about these shop keepers, never pay what they are asking. you can hustle anyone down. |

you'll be on vacation in a foreign country. it should be an adventure, not a beauty pageant. remember that you'll be in a third world country. don't look for trouble, or do something like wear lots of jewelry that could lead to problems. not saying that you will have problems, but even if you didn't you would always be worrying about it. use your common sense. |

Mexico City has 30 million people living there, there is a lot of nice people, but there may be a couple of million who aren´t. So if you are in Mexico City, do not wear gold jewelry... but any other town or city it is pretty safe.
We are not chasing after gold as your friend above implies, and you are a foreigner which probably means you have money for vacationing in Mexico, the vendors see that (not your gold).
Have a safe trip. |

I would say yes, but keep it to a very low minimum. And do not show it a lot. Also if you must wear it, try covering it by clothing until you are at the wedding or restaurant or where ever you want to go.Plus you should keep it in the hotel safe or the room safe. I advise you to only bring it if it is a "must have"! Have fun and good luck! My best wishes! :)

I would advise against it. The odds are you could even get killed for that gold so don't wear it its an unnecessary risk don't even wear a watch. |
