Is it true that you cannot urinate in the mexican ocean water near cancun?

we are going in november with our friends and one of the kids told me you cant pee in the water because there are parasites in the water that can swim faster than the stream and can go up the urethra...is that true?

LOL...HMMM!?!?! Well I am not 100% sure, but I can tell you this. I live in CancĂșn and had a buddy come to visit and while he was in the ocean he did urinate and the next day he said that his "thing" was irritated and burned/stung a little. Now whether or not it was parasites that entered, I doubt it because you would know and I don't think that they could swim up your urethra while you are urinating. Micro organisms are extremely tiny and wouldn't be able to swim that fast or be strong enough to enter the urethra while you are urinating. I just took it as it had something to do with the salt water aspect of it more than anything. I can see where getting salt water inside your urethra would burn/sting, so I told him it was probably that. I've never had a problem with it, but then again I haven't tried to urinate in the ocean since I was a child. If a parasite did get up there you would know within a day and it would be very uncomfortable and cause some problems. I've never heard of stories of anything like that happening. I'm not saying it can't, but I haven't heard of anything like that and there are a lot of people that do urinate in the ocean. I think you will be fine. If you really have to go and can't wait just get to where you can stand up on the ocean floor enough for your lower body to be out of the water and turn away from the beach (like you are walking out into the ocean) and then go while standing. That's what I would do. You won't have to worry about "it" being in the water and getting anything up there and nobody will even notice what you are doing. Good luck to you and becareful!!!

Um
Why would you want to pee in the ocean anyway?
Whats the difference if there are parasites or not?

If they can swim up stream .... wouldn't it be easier when you were not peeing. I think you'd better stay away from the ocean

your question sounds like an episode of grey's anatomy.
the patient was in the amazon, and was invaded by the feared beta or penis fish.
i lived near cancun for 4 years, and never once heard of this happening there.
if you must, it is safe.
but, why not use a toilet?

That is a total lie. Pee where you like and if you pee in the street you will go to jail.
