Is mexico city dangerous/safe? |
I know mexico city is broken up into "zones", and i was wondering where is the most dangerous 'place/zone' ? Ive been told a lot about the Cartel, that there everywhere in the capital. Is this true? Is all of mexico city dangerous? |

No Mexico City is a great GREAT city....just dont go to the dangerous areas ...go to :centro historico", zona rosa,reforma avenue,chapultepec castle, anthropology museum (the best in the world in its category),ride a subway,get in the turibus....it is GREAT |

Mexico City IS dangerous but only if you make yourself vulnerable to crime which a lot of tourist do by making stupid mistakes. |

If you go to places like Palacio de Bellas Artes or places where theres lots of tourism is pretty safe. Just don't carry your bling bling all over. Mexico City is a beautiful city.

Tepito has been known like a dangerous zone, others are Cd. Neza, cerro de la estrella, you just have to be careful and cautious like in any other city. |

The areas you refer to are called colonias or administratively delegaciones. There are some stats in the press which is the most dangerous. It depends to what crime you refer: you can choose from the following menu: carjacking at gunpoint, breaking and entering and cleaning the house out, entering at gunpoint cleaning the house out while servants bound and gagged, drive by shootings, shooting workers directing traffic on construction sites (no kidding-there was one last week), simple car theft, robbery of passers by, robbery of bus passengers (metal detectors in bus terminals are largely decorative purposes), kidnapping, shooting and robbing people and mostly tourists coming out of a bank/airport (French scientist was shot at point blank range last week) or an ATM and lastly execution and beheading (again no kidding) of narcos of rival gangs. Yes all of the city is dangerous. Stay away. |
