Spanish is regional just like in the US. Someone from GA has different sayings and pronunciations that someone from MA ! All is basic Spanish.

I would say that the dialects are different. The Spanish that I learned in school, is not the same as Spanish on the street.

Of course, by example there are words in El Salvador which have a completely different meaning in Mexico: "Seco" means skinny in el Salvador while it means "moody" in Mexico. Nevertheless latins understand each other with no problem.

yes, its diffrent. I went to Mexico for a month and hardley new any of the words they use. I speak spanglish, but I had a great time! thats all that matters

Pronunciaton is very different. Some Mexican Americans speak "Spanglish", which is a mix of Spanish and English, this is only spoken close to the border. Mexico is a huge country, people speaks diferent in Mexico City than in Guadalajara than in Chiapas than in Tijuana.
