Not really! It's okay, but it's almost like a super jazzed up motel 6. It's far from a lot of the local things to do and the beach isn't all that great. It isn't a true hotel/resort type place like you are probably thinking of. Just check out the link below and you can read reviews and see photos of it. Good luck and have fun! |

yes this is a beautiful hotel but far from cancun and playa del carmen, over an hour drive from the airport, probably close to 2. However you will be very close to the Tulum ruins and Xel-Ha, a great place for snorkeling. You will be so close that you should do these on your own and not with a package. You will definitely enjoy the Bahia, however the ocean is not as pretty there as in Playa or Cancun as it is a protected wildlife/coral area and motorized sports are forbidden, but if you;re a pool pesron, the pools will definitely make up for it! |

my family and I will be going to the Gran Bahia Principe Akumal on Thursday for 1 week. I can let you know. Try reading the traveller reviews on Travelocity (type in hotel name, when it pops up, click on "traveller reviews"). More positive than negative, I think.
