the people who said nuevo leon shouldnt answer questions they arent sure of. nuevo leon is a state, not a city. monterrey is the capital of nuevo leon.
the city you are asking about is leon, guanajuato. it is known for it's leather goods. most of the shoes and boots in mexico are made in leon.
and the person who said it's the fifth most populous city in mexico is also wrong. here is a list of the most populous cities: 1. mexico df 2. guadalajara 3. monterrey 4. puebla 5. ciudad juarez 6. tijuana
but yes, it is a big city. just not as big as she thinks. |

Leon, Guanajuato, and isn't a small city it has over 1.2 million people living there and it's 500 years old, (it's the fifth most populous city in Mexico).

León ,Guanajuato. Pronounced lay-OHN. It is a small city very close to Guanajuato,Guanajuato, the capital of the state. In León they make shoes so it smells bad there. If you are going you can go to the shoe market, but I recommend lodging in Guanajuato which is a much more charming place and doesn't smell bad.
It is named after a place in Spain. Nueva León, which a couple of people mentioned, is named after the same place in Spain, but Nueva León is a Mexican state not a city. |
