A law against drunk driving and many others like the ones in the US are very similar. In Mexico the amount of enforcement varies by city, but it is very much illegal.
Many bars and restaurants have been the subject of "operaciones" or investigations that are short lived little ways that the police make sure that 1.minors aren't drinking
and that
2. drunk drivers aren't leaving the establishments
In many large cities, sobriety checkpoints are instituted from as early on as Thursday if it's a party area of a city. |

Yes! I was on a tour & we were allowed to drink because we were in the back of the truck, a separate part of the vehicle. Although every time we would cheers a passing car they would pull their drink out & cheers us back. When we asked our guide he said "it's illegal but have you seen any cops? The law is there but is easy to break, as everyone drinks & drives. The rep at the resort suggests you not to drive as there is to many drunk drivers & they will throw you in jail until they figure out who's fault it is. Mexican prison I'll pass thanks |

There is no law against drunk driving. There is also no law against mudering and drugs.
Of course there is a law against it! |

honest to god my mexican freind took me to a club once and by the time the "terrific" ride ended he told me he was drunk and on E....
can u believe that?
