Looking at a Destination wedding. Trying to decide between Riveria Maya, Mexico or Barbados - Oct or Nov 2009.?
Trying to decide where to get married that is budget friendly. Riveria Maya, Mexico or Barbados? Anyone have any suggestions? it would be Oct / Nov 2009. All inclusive, must include children. (We picked these places b/c of budget and not a long flight from BWI - we'll have a 1 yr old).
Riviera Maya is great for families and couples. Don't go to Cancun though. It's just one giant hotel after another and the excursions are either shopping or something expensive that you could do anywhere (like jet skiing or golf). Most resorts have a daytime children's program for the little one. One of the prettiest places to get married on the beach is the Dreams in Puerto Adventuras. Xcaret, which is a natural park with plenty to see and do is nearby. A trip to the Mayan ruins may be too much for the baby. It's a long hot day but very interesting for the adults. We booked through cheapcaribbean.com for the best price. I haven't been to Barbados so I can't comment on it.

Not sure if you're looking for packages or not but my wife and I did a destination wedding through Distinctive Honeymoons. It was great, they did a great job and everything seemed pretty affordable. If not, their site might have some info on both destinations to help you make your decisions:
I personally prefer Riviera Maya. It is beautiful and inexpensive. However, keep in the back of your mind that hurricane season runs until November 1st each year, which could affect either destination.

Mexico. I love the Yucatan peninsula. Mexico is inexpensive to travel and stay in.
