Looking for a Mexican Song - Chorus sounds Like "Quan-Tan-Ameda" in English. Must be very popular in Mexico!
This song was played by a small band on the ferry from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel.
It was very high energy and everyone (especially the little Mexican kiddos) were singing along and dancing. It was very easy to pick up the chorus (the part that sounds like "Quan-Tan-Ameda" or something like that) and sing along.
If you can provide me with the name of the song and the artist (if there is an artist), that would be great!
Thanks,
Jason Additional Details Thanks guys! That's what I was looking for! =)
Ah si *laughs heartily*, I believe you are reffering to the cuban song Guantanamera, the singer of the song is singingabout a girl from guantanamo (which is in cuba) check it out on youtube here as sung by Celia Cruz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Xl-jq08AGU&feature=related
It is "Guantanamera", composed by Juan Fernandez of Cuba in 1929. It was a top 10 hit in the US by the Sandpipers in 1966, who based their version on an adaptation by Pete Seeger.
Miss S
guantanamera!!
there are several artists who have done this song, the most recent is probably Wyclef Jean (which has a very hiphop style to it)..

It's called "Guantanamera" and means girl from Guantana.

Mike Nesmith wrote a satire of this song and he calls it "One Ton Tomato" and sings, "I need a one ton tomato!"
