Los Cabos or Puerto Vallerta for a honeymoon? |
Please don't reply unless you have personally been to both locations. I'm looking for the best location to spend 7-10 days on a honeymoon. Factors we're interested in include (but are not limited to) beach quality, nightlife, available historic local communities, places to explore outside of town, etc.
Thanks for your help! |

I have been to both places and I would definitely choose Puerto Vallarta. The reason mostly being, the beach there is swimmable and the beach in Los Cabos is not swimmable in most places. It is great for surfing, but at most hotels ther is no swimmable beach.
Also, in Puerto Vallarta, you can rent a car and there are lots of places to visit nearby. I would suggest staying in nuevo Valalrta as the beach is a bit better there. It is about a 40 minute bus ride into Puerto Vallarta, depending on the hotel you are at, or a $20 - $30 cab ride. Rental cars once you are there are quite inexpensive. You can drive about an hour and a half and you are in Manzanillo which is beautiful. You are also only about 2 hours from Guadalajara if you are wanting to see it. From there you can take tours of Tequila and go to on a train tour to Tequila factories in the area. In the town on Puerto Vallarta there is lots of stuff to keep you busy at night as well. Most hotels in Nuevo Vallarta will have groups that go into town at night, so you dont have to worry as much about getting a bus or cab unless you want to stay out longer than they are. |

Definitely Los Cabos, Puerto Vallerta you'll find a lot of high school kids on a senior class trip/college kids. I've only heard really good things about Los Cabos and looks beautiful.
This is a link about Los Cabos from Travel and Leisure:

CABO! There always seems more to do to me.
I'd make sure to stay in "Los Cabos" Cabo San Lucas rather than San Jose Cabo--There are alot of good resorts in San Jose Cabo, but then you are far from Medano Beach, Cabo Wabo, the marina etc. |

CABO!!! although there is really only one beach you can swim at, because of undertow, it is worth it the water is clear! you can see your feet, and to see lands end is really something. it is very romantic. I loved Cabo I went there fo my honeymoon,
I'm scared of the water in Puerto Vallarta, every time I have been there the waves are huge! and I never remember the water being so clear as in Cabo.
No matter where you decide to go, Have fun, try different thing and take lots of pictures! :) |
