The currency in Mexico is pesos. There are approximately 11 pesos to one dollar. An item that costs $5.00 in the U.S. would cost about 55.00 pesos in Mexico. the $ sign used for dollars in the U.S. is used for pesos in Mexico. But this sign is not usually used on restaurant menus. So, a Quarter pounder meal at McDonalds would be listed with a price of 55.00. |

Currency is Pesos,
When i went there somebody told me that to specify that an amount is in Pesos, write "MN" after the amount. like 100 Pesos would be "100 MN" and if you just write 100 they (somehow) could charge 100 dollars. so remeber that MN
means mexican currency.
If you want to write in dolars, write USD after the amount. example "100 USD"

I'm a little confused, but I think you mean as in the States or Canada using dollars you will write the following.
$1.00 (one dollar).
$5.00 (five dollars).
In Mexico they usually write as legal for example, $120.00MN, meaning 120 Mexican National money's or Money National(Pesos)
Normally in Mexico they use the dollar $ sign (in restaurants and stores) but they actually know they are referring to Pesos, unless it's stated USD (USA Dollars). |

So if the food is going to be 5 American Dollars you would write Cinco Dollares, etc.
or are you asking what is equivelent to 5 american dollars?
Anyways, it is Pesos if you need pesos to equal to 5 american dollars.
