MEXICO Dangerous...???????????? |
Please read all.
Ive asked a fuw question about weather mexico is safe or not.
Basically people just told me to not stick out and to look poor.
But i will stick out because im Caucasian with blonde hair, but i will be able to look poor. Im male and will be about 19 when i go, do they like people from the US (Even though im English, but i guess they will mistake me for being from the US) Will this be a problem.
IM going to go anyway, but im just wandering, any other tips on not getting attacked? Other then look poor, maybe if i buy a lil Mexican flag ill be ok? hehe i always buy flags when im in other country's :)
Or will that make me a bigger target to get attacked? Thanks for your answers! Oh and it will be a border City, right next to San Diego, but its still in Mexico.
Cheers! |

Tijuana Mexico is very safe for all races, we have plenty of caucasian Mexicans there and not everyone is poor in case you did not know.
Your race will not make you a target, like most developing countries, your possessions will. do not take fancy clothes or shoes, try to take mostly tesco or wal-mart type clothes. and do not flash fancy cell phones, laptop, or ipods. the most important advise to give is; do not take any gold or expensive watches, that is the easiest way to get mugged. try not to have cash, instead, use a free world atm debit card or load a pre paid debit card and get money down there as needed from a bank atm. If you must go clubbing, stay close to the US border and mix in with the many americans and do not go to the red lights district.
If you go waving a mexican flag down there, you will be inviting a beating, please dont do it,we mexicans do not like patronization. |

Who the hell have you been talking to? There is no need to look poor, just don't act flashy and pull out wads of money in front of people. If you want to buy a Mexican flag for a souvenir that's ok but anyway that's not going to help you out safety wise. |

Well my country is dangerous in some parts just like London has some dangerous places, but most of the people are very friendly with visitors believe me.
Border towns has now a drug war, the cartels are fighting to send drugs to the USA, but they donÂŽt mess with civilians and Tijuana depends a lot from tourism from the USA so as long as you stick to the safe areas of the city and not try to do something illegal you will be fine.
Being white has nothing to do with being attack, more than 10% of the population in Mexico is white that means like 10 million people.
And there is a lot of rich people in Mexico, you will see once you cross into Mexico. |

LOL, well I don't know what you read or hear about Mexico, yes, it is a dangerous country, so the US, or Europe it depends on the neighborhoods you are walking around.
When I was in Paris I was followed for about an hour but I scaped and In Texas, I was in a very ugly neighborhood without knowing it, until someone told me that whatr I was thinking on going there, and what can you say about NY it's as crowded as Mexico City and as dangerous if you are in the incorrect neighborhood.
Don't be afraid to go to a Mexican country, if you look afraid you are going to have a bad experience, so relax, don't believe evrything you hear, and of course take some precautions as if you were going to a very dangerous neighborhood in LA. |

1. Stay together. Don't wander around alone.
2. Don't get "fall down, American style, obnoxious" drunk.
Have a good time but control yourself.
3. Don't use 2 door taxi cabs
4. Don't break the law. The Mexican police can be worse than the
criminals.
5. If you stop and look around and feel like you're in a "bad" area....
you are.
6. MOST IMPORTANT- Be respectful. You are visiting someone's
country and home. Would you want crazy, drunk, foreigners
running around yelling and using your front yard as a toilet?
Too many of my fellow Americans forget this when they travel
abroad. People around the world are very welcoming and happy to
have you visit if you show respect.
Be smart and you'll be safe. |

My only advise is to be very careful where you're walking. I was in Mexico (in a border city) with my dad. He stumbled on the "sidewalk" and bumped into a guy. They guy started yelling at him in Spanish. My dad's girlfried is from Mexico and apparently the guy was threatening to cut him up and feed him to the fish!!!!! Just for bumping into him! |
