The warnings that have been set is for adults/teens going to
certain places or beaches in Mexico is just to be aware of the
danger, meaning if youu plan on stroling in the downtown area, just
be aware of surroundings or people that you dont know trying to
sell you the stuff or leving your group to adventure on your own,
we all remember Jessica from Aruba, about 2/3 yrs ago they still
cant find her body. I usually go to Mexico 3-4 times a year, but to
a quiet little city, of course there will always be danger if you stay
out after 3am you might find yourself some undesirable people.

I just went in February of this year. Its perfectly safe. I rented a car and as soon as I left the airport the military was randomly checking cars for drugs. I was one. I didnt like the idea but I know they r doing their job. I also got pulled over twice to c if i was intoxicated. which i wasnt but the police was very polite. I will be back in May this year for two weeks

I work at a Texas Airport and all flights to Mexico this weekend and through the next FULL, no spaces left.
I think the media has not changed the plans of some people, only some ignorants believing it's unsafe, that maybe have never been in Mexico, or don't know that the US border from Cancun, Vallarta, Cozumel, Ixtapa, Acapulco, etc is far far away.

We just got back from Puerto Vallarta a couple of weeks ago. We had a wonderful trip and went all over the Puerto/Nuevo Vallarta area. Never felt unsafe or even uneasy. USA Today just ran an article on Friday;I'm including the hyperlink. Please read, feel reassured, go and have FUN!!! Plus, it's roughly 15 pesos to 1 US dollar right now. Another plus!!!

I am planning on traveling to Cancun. There is a travel warning in effect for US citizens traveling to Mexico, due to an increase of violent crimes, but there are some common sense guidelines. US State Department offers these guidelines: "U.S. citizen visitors are encouraged to stay in the well-known tourist areas of the cities. Travelers should leave their itinerary with a friend or family member not traveling with them, avoid traveling alone, and should check with their cellular provider prior to departure to confirm that their cell phone is capable of roaming on GSM or 3G international networks. Do not display expensive-looking jewelry, large amounts of money, or other valuable items."

Travel, but be smart about it and have a great time (I will!).

No one I know is going down there any time soon because there are a lot of bad things going on down there right now, that a lot of people might not know about. Bad things..
