I can't even wait to go back! I'm going as a tourist and to visit some family, and they do live in Mexico City.

I went there around May and i had a blast. Mexico City, there is lots you can do. It's diverse, it was a culture shock for me. There are parts in Mexico City where you wouldn't be able to tell if you are in Mexico or the US. But when you walk some several blocks everything changes so fast, then there are poor people asking for money, and "nice me" i give them any change i have left, but people say not to do that.
When you are there, try going to Teotihuacan and go on the Pyramid of the Sun, Have fun!

i just went over the border, but it was
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
omg i loved it so much..
you will have a blast!
i would love to go there again =]

it was kinda sad to look at all of the more poor people sitting there trying to sell you stuff, but then again, we were buying stuff from them. everyone was so happy when we would buy something from them, i felt so happy seeing them smile. and then we would walk buy and everyone would call us superstars (cause we have blonde hair... i guess they thought we were jessica simpson or brittany spears?) and everyone would try to get us to buy stuff.
the weather was beautiful.. hot and sunny
it is a great experience

dito what most people said about DF....but yes, it is very dangerous in a lot of places, especially for someone like yourself. make sure to research your trip first. there are still going to be many white people there though :) they work there!

just a few quick ones...don't stay in a seedy motel, spend a little more money for one that is safe, and where the staff won't sell you out to a criminal. don't take the subway, ever. always CALL for a taxi, never hail one off the street. traffic is horrific, allow plenty of time to get places! if you take a bus, ETN is the best!

I've used the Mexico City Metro dozens of times with no problems. I just don't use it during rush hours when it's the most crowded and has the most pickpockets.
It's safe, if you're reasonably alert.
Like don't put a camera or a handbag over
the back of a chair in a restaurant
--it might not be there when it's time to go.
Keep the handbag or camera in your lap or on
the floor with your foot through the strap.
Tourist areas attract scam artists and pickpockets,
so something like that is more likely than someone
pulling a gun on you and asking for money.
Most crimes are crimes of opportunity where
they see something of value and nobody is watching it.
Don't get drunk and wander around empty streets.
Don't flash a lot of money, you can always get more at the ATM.
A money belt is a good idea--you can keep your passport, extra money
and credit cards underneath your clothes--then go into
the restroom if you need to pull one out.
Take a trip out to Teotihuacan, see the museums in Chapulepec Park and go to the Ballet Folklorico.

It is a BIG CITY! It has its good and its bad. I went a few years ago, I felt like I was in Milan, just not as clean. Lots of history, old. I was only there for 1 day, but I want to go back. Are you going for biz or pleasure?

Mans
well almost every one here has somethings right...barely trust anyone, keep your purse at hand at all time, dont get on a car that looks like a taxi cab because it could be a phoeny, call for one via phone , and dont wonder off in the midle of the night alone...besides that its a huge city biggest in the world NOT LYING polluted!! and you should visit historical places, there you may also spott mexican actors specially in the mexicointernational airport... out of 3 trips ive spotted 6 mexicanactorsNOT LYING
