Hi, I recommend going to Cancun, it's a great place for four guys to completely rock out. The beaches are amazing and the water is see thru! It's crystalline. For when you're not partying, it's awesome to go scuba diving and hit the beaches, always a fun time.
There is one thing I would recommend though, I think that if you went in late june you would have a far better time. If you go in May some college kids may be there, doing the same thing you're doing, but in the end of june, middle of june, there are crazy amount of girls. Recently graduated high schoolers, as well as college girls. That sounds about the right age for a couple of guys your age.
There's also a very good chance that if four of you go, that you can get a great price at a hotel and the like. It has great clubs, great open bars, that means you can drink more for your buck ( I recommend taking a spare liver if you have one, hehe).
Also, I know it's about having a good time, but trust me, Do two things other than partying and drinking when you're there.
Rent an open-air jeep and take it via map to Chichen itza, old pyramids of the mayan culture, Awesome pyramids, you know like in egypt except like two hours from where you're at!
And, number 2, go scuba diving, you can take a quickie course that'll have you in the water same or next day, awesome experience. I really recommend this, but hey man, rock out, have a good time and enjoy your time with your buddies. If this helps, I'd appreciate the ten points, thanks

If you want to party and enjoy "night life" I would recommend Cancun, but if you just want an awesome Mexico experience, go an hour south to Akumal. Condos are on the beach, you can snorkel and see awesome wild life, and it's not over-run by tourists.

I think going to Cancun for your birthday with 3 of your friends would be great. Beautiful beaches and lots of fun clubs. There are tons of hotels around there and the beach can be pretty busy...which would be no problem if you are with friends looking to drink and party. I think that would be the place for you.

So everyone says Cancun, yeah its nice....however, i think Puerto Vallarta is waaay better. We would go almost every other summer, and there is so much to do, from clubbing, taking 1 day cruises, snorkeling, scuba diving, and all that good stuff! and ofcourse the women are beautiful! i guess its what you make it. anywhere you go in mexico is fun.
