Mexico good place to retire?

Show all answers

The Ghost
First and foremost, Craig M, you're a moron, you probably watch the news and believe what they say, good for you. Now, is Mexico a good place to retire, it's a wonderful place to retire, there are tons of communities, some for Americans exclusively, some for Americans predominantly, and some for whomever. Also, you can have a maid, nurse, or any other kind of help in Mexico for a lot cheaper. This is really a great benefit to many Americans.

Yes. Of course it depends on the area. If you list your interest, possible places that you could take a look at can be list.

Before you settle on a location you spend a few months get to know the good and bad of the town, and see how it suits you.

Ashely
yes it is

Finding Memo
Yes, try at San Miguel de Allende City in Guanajuato State. 35,000 american citizens live there.

Mariana!
There is a small town near from Guadalajara, Jalisco named Chapala and Ajijic in a big lake with and excellent weather and are a lot of american and canadian seniors

If you can bring the right attitude it is a wonderful place to retire. The people are warm and friendly, the weather is ideal, and prices are cheap. You need to be able to say, "I am a guest in Mexico. I will learn to accept the things I don't like or agree with. I will learn the language and the culture and bring my talents to help where I can." If you can do that, you could be one of the lucky people for whom it is perfect.

Make several exploratory trips. Decide if you like mountains or desert or jungle or beaches because your final destination will depend on what you decide. Plan to rent for a few months to see how you like it and then possibly rent in several places to decide on an area.

A couple of books to read:
"Head for Mexico" by Don Adams and "Peoples Guide to Mexico" by Carl Franz

Robbie
Depends on just where you're looking to relocate.

Not likely. Too much crime, drugs, and corruption.
