I go to mexico often, just drink bottled water. Watch your purse. Carry your money in your front pockets. Not in your purse. Keep your passport close. I loved tasco. A lot of siler there. And puebla. Oaxaca is awesome too!. They make pottery from black clay. Have fun and enjoy

Cobo? Yeah it is amazing.

Chichen Itza is an amazing place. I visted two years ago while vacationing in Cozumel. I would recomend from Playa del Carmen to fly into Chichen Itza eventhough it's a little more pricey. It's a long bus ride from what I have heard. The pyramids and observatories are beautiful. During the tour, you will lean things about the Mayan people that are astonishing. I recomend to bring lots of bug spray on your trip because you will litteraly be in the jungle while visiting Chichen Itza. Also, do not drink anything water unless it's bottled, but that is a general rule for EVERYWHERE in Mexico. I hope you have a great trip. Playa del Carmen is a wonderful place!

Playa del Carmen is a neat place. There is an awesome Bagel Shop there you should try. I can't remember the name but let me tell you... Yumm!.

Also Chichen Itza is incredible. It is something unlike anything I've ever seen. Just make sure when you are booking your tour that the guide speaks English. Some of them don't. It's a unique experience getting there as well because the bus goes through some jungle and rural villages. You will see first hand how people in that part of the world live.

My words of advice are to drink plenty of bottled water and don't forget the sun screen. Have Fun!

Well haven't been there but look on the internet about whats there. BTW have fun!! n_n Buena suerte!!

Chichen Itza is very nice to see, however, it will be an ALL DAY trip. (Leave your hotel at 6 or 7 am, return at 8 or 9 pm.) If you are only going for 2 or 3 days, you have to decide if you want to give up an entire day of sun and surf to see it. If you are staying for several days, then yes, I would recommend it. I prefer Playa or even further south over Cancun itself, just my personal preference. I have stayed at the Riu before - it is very nice. I'm sure you will totally enjoy yourself.

VioletField
All of those places have awesome things to do for tourists. Cozumel is another place you should try to go to, lots of the people in that area are bilingual, so you can communicate easily. Have fun on your trip!

If you haven't been to either site then I highly recommend you visit Chichen Itza. Both sites are amazing, however the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza were voted in the top 7 man made wonders of the world last year, it can't be missed. If I were you, I would visit Chichen Itza and maybe even the Mayan ruins of Tulum coupled with a stop off at the eco park Xel-Ha. Save Coba for a future trip, otherwise you may be doing too many activities and not really enjoying the thing that you asked about...

The Caribbean Sea is like a bathtub this time of year in the Yucatan Peninsula. The one thing you should be advised to take recautions for is the possibility that you may encounter Sea Lice. This is the English term that describes when baby jellyfish are spawning in the tropics. The Mexicans call this Agua Mala, which means Bad Water, literally. However, do not worry, you can use a product known as Safe Sea to prevent the rashes and stings associated with Sea Lice.

Have fun planning your vacation in paradise,

Chichen Itza is one of the "new" 7-wonders of the world and it is amazing! You are no longer allowed to climb to the top. Worth going to...absolutely!

Coba, can be climbed. It is not as impressive as Chichen however a powerful place.

Looking for tours or tour guides try Entertainment plus. Great prices and nice people to work with. My family and friends all use them. entertainment-plus.net/cancun

Even though I live in Cancun...I love Playa del Carmen. 5th Avenue is the place to eat, party, shop and people watch. Better prices than in Cancun.

Never stayed at the Riu in Playa but the Riu's are a large chain of hotels owned by Spaniards. The property is always impressive.

Have a great trip!

i haven't been to the one in Mexico but i know the riu in Jamaica is wonderful, i have a few friend that went to Cancun they are Spanish and they didn't have a good experience. the people was rude them ignores them when they spoke Spanish and kept refusing to give them a table. they had to speak English and kept telling the staffs they had money and was from America..but everywhere in Mexico is different, hope you have a good time..

Peachie
well i heard their water is pretty dirty full of parasites and tourists often get sick drinking it, so i wouldn't if i were you.
