Old town Vallarta is much more interesting than Nuevo Vallarta where all the time-shares and all-inclusives are.

go to Marival Resort, It's an "All-Inclusive" resort. very nice. beautiful beach. has several restaurants, activities, shows etc.. beds are a little on the firm side. but great resort. have to make reservations for dinner at night. anywhere in puerto you have to avoid the time share people, can be pushy. we learned quickly to say "NO". go and have a great time. also take a taxi to Malecon's mkt for shopping. check taxi price before leaving. resort can recommend reputable drivers with modest rates. Enjoy your trip !

The Westin Regina leaves everything else behind. Let me give you the pros and cons:

-Pros: amazing bars (Nikki Beach Pto. Vallarta is in the hotel), awesome pool covered with hundreds of palm trees (this really is an amazing sight), very good concierges, comfy wide rooms w/ balcony view

-Cons: beach (its like this in ALL Pto. Vallarta), location (its relatively not that close to the "Malecon," or the main street)

* What I really love about this hotel is that the excellent concierges encourage you to dine outside of the establishment, and this for me is a personal high-five. Although there are all-inclusive packages, there exists the possibility of only including breakfast buffets on your bill.

If you take a look in the Puerto Vallarta section here in this site, you can see the Best Answer I got for recommending what to do, where to go and where to eat in Puerto Vallarta. Just look to the answers there. You will have a great vacation there.

We stayed at the RIU Jalisco in Nueva Vallarta, which is just north of PV. We loved it. Great beach, all inclusive. Easy to get to PV by bus. I know that others have disagreed about the place - check the reviews at Tripadvisor.com.

Check out Vallarta Adventures - they offer a lot of great adventure packages - sailing, snorkelling, dolphins, whale watching, canopy tour. We did the canopy tour and the sailboat to Yelapa. Both were excellent.

You won't live Puerto Vallarta once you stay there and see the sunset, any travel agency can tell you the wide variety of hotels and attractions, be very welcome

I would have to know how much you want to spend. I get a condo for $250 a week, and it is very nice. You can spend over a $1,000 a night and that can be wonderful. Look up some of the PV sites such as www.vallartainfo.com, or www.vallartascene.com, www.puertovallarta.net, or www.vallartaonline.com. There is an amazing number of things to do, or do nothing at all. It is paradise only if you want it to be. Check out the bulletin board on www.vallarta-info.com and ask questions there. I live in Puerto Vallarta. What are your plans email me with your email address and I plans and I can tell you things such as cheap hotels or condos as cheap as $120.00 USD a week, places to go etc. (this is not a Joke).........
