My parents want me to go on vacation with them to mexico, but i dont want to go. what should i do?

Ask a counselor or teacher at school if they will talk to your parents about how important it is for you to stay in school. Maybe if your parents hear it from the school they'll take it more serious. Do you have a friend that you can stay with for that month?

PS - What decent parent takes their kid out of school for so long for a damn vacation. Your parents need to get their priorities straight! Are they from Mexico where people think education isn't important?

You won't fall behind if your teachers give you the assignments and reading lists for the month you'll be away. While you're in Mexico set aside 4 hours a day for studies. Then, enjoy Mexico - it's a beautiful country with a wonderful culture. Going to Mexico will help you learn that the whole world is not about you, your friends at school or the town that you live in - it will help you to broaden your horizons and allow you to embrace another culture. It's a fantastic learning experience that you will cherish the rest of your life.

If you're already falling behind and failing some classes then obviously you don't really care about school that much and you might as well go on the trip and get some real world education because you'll probably end up going to continuation school anyway.

It's not illegal to take your kids out of school or to not send them to school at all. Especially if she's a senior in high school. You're only legally required to attend school until age 16, which could entail home schooling and traveling besides just school work.

If you embrace your trip, read some travel guides and plan some activities, talk to some natives, and visit historical sites and write a report or five about it you could very well LEARN something valuable for the first time in your life.

Don't allow yourself to miss the opportunity of absorbing another culture. Talk to your teachers, they will relent. Bien Viaje.

Is this really just a vacation, or is your family going home to Mexico to spend the holidays with relatives? Maybe this is something they've been saving up for? In any case, it must be really important to them if they want to take you out of school.

At the same time, school is super important. If it's really that crucial that you not miss school, then have your best teacher talk to them and arrange to stay with another relative or a friend. If it's a friend, make sure it's a friend who is responsible about getting homework done, and that her parents are OK with it.

If it turns out that you end up going, get prepared. Start working really hard now (if you're having trouble now, then you need to be working harder anyway), but do your best to pull up your grades asap. And have your parents talk to your teacher anyway. Get the work assignments, AND ask for some extra credit work that you could do to boost your grades during the holiday break.

I took my young son out of school for a month last year when we went to Mexico to visit relatives. A lot of kids in his school have families abroad, so the school was used to the idea, and very accomodating. But I made sure he worked on his homework while we were traveling. It didn't really hurt him. He ended the year with straight A's.

Good lord, I assume your parents will understand they are probably the idiots that are paying for your education right? If you lose a semester or something, it will be more expensive for them.

Just show them the logic in why taking you with them is beyond intelligent human comprehension. Besides, you wouldn't enjoy yourself anyways if you had to bring your homework with you.

I raised two boys (MEN now) and NEVER would we have planned to "go away" unless it was an emergency and take them out of school. Tell them THEY can go to jail in the USA if you don't go to school......it can happen. What's wrong with them? I don't understand. Is there a friend you can stay with??? I always let kids stays with my kids when their parents had to leave for any reason.

1. can you tell your principle to talk to your teacher about homework of understanding...when you come back...teacher will help you with your homework....

2. tell your parents that you do not want to go to vacation and miss school, because school is important to you.

If you have the confidence that you can pull ur grades together, then stay and study ur butt off, but if ur chances are slim...then why not go to Mexico and have a blast!!

ask them if you can stay with a responsible relative like an aunt or grandparents or cousin. maybe even one of your friends.

Try explaining to your parents how important school is. Were you included in the planning of this trip? If so, then I guess you are kind of obliged to go, but if your parents didn't tell you until it was finalized, then I think you should be the one deciding if you go or not. Try to be rational, but don't argue.

Omg, this is so hard! You should try talking to any aunt or uncle or a counselor in school that understands you.

Do your parents trust you? To stay in a friends house, or an aunts house???

If they don't, you should start now and show them your responsibilities..etc.

They can't force you, the law is that all children must go to school.. talk to a social worker and they will handel it with "a judge order"
