well, why are you moving? is this a personal thing, or is someone in the family being transferred due to a job, or has taken a job there,,,,,,,, if due to employment, the employer should be gathering this information for you,,,,,,, if a personal thing,,,,,, then its more difficult, you are leaving the country,,,, it would be Mexico that would be concerned,,, and their rules you must follow,,,,,, meaning you dont have to have a passport to leave the USA,,,, but you do to enter another country,,,,, not sure if just an id card will work anymore for Mexico
here is a site with info about entering Mexico,,,,from the Mexican American Consulate, hopefully it will help you
http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/wwwhmvr.html
ps: you need to try to get info from either a Mexican representative here,,, such as the consulate's office, or else from the Mexican immigration/visa office,,,,, |

We lived in Mexico for 10 years and will retire there.
First, if you enter Mexico as a tourist, you cannot bring with you things that a tourist would not normally carry, like appliances. There are several different legal statuses that you can apply for that allow you to bring your household possessions. But you must go to a Mexican embassy and comply with the legal requirements.
Second, ignore the advice of people like that guy who said don't get your dental work there. I had 10 years of dental work there. I returned to the US in '92, so I can vouch for the work. Obviously, you can find good and bad dentists or anything else anywhere in the world, including the USA, where I've had the worst dental experiences.
In fact, ignore the doomsayers entirely. Before I moved there, people said, "Aren't you afraid?" Ridiculous. My life there was so good that we'll go back upon retirement, along with over 1 million other Americans and Canadians already retired there.
If you want really solid, practical advice, visit the website of The People's Guide to Mexico (or buy the book). They have lived down there forever and give practical, accurate advice on everything.
