i mean i can't go to mexico unless i get a passport.
lol........
If you do the expedited passport, you may be able to get one in time, but it's going to be very expensive. In the mean time, here is the US passport website that explains about travel requirements (US only) for re-entering the US from Mexico and the Carribean. And a link to Mexico's requirements for land entry from US. You may not need a passport yet to go to Mexico by land, however, it will make the return trip easier.
:)
If you're driving you don't need a passport. If you're flying the government is allowing you to bring the receipt showing you applied for a passport due to all the delays with so many people applying for a passport this year.

No passport needed if you drive. All visitors will need a passport by January 1, 2008. Right now the passport office is flooded with applications, better get your application in soonest.

If you're driving to Mexico you don't need a passport. The only thing you need is your drivers license. Eventually you might need your passport, but for now you don't.
