Prostitution & Woman?

I have a question about the "Zona Norte" and rest of the red light districts up in TJ. Everything I hear from people coming back from TJ say a lot of **** like "oh the woman there are marvelous", "will do anything for a dolla", "their ur slave" blah blah blah blah. When I hear all these stories, I find it very degrading and sad. Is there anyway to help out these woman who are selling themselves out? Is it really true about what I hear goes on with these woman? I am about to visit TJ in about a couple of days and I am just curious if there is anything I could do to help out. Thanks...

Be very careful. This town is really corrupt. The police are corrupt, anyone who's involved in prostitution is most likely corrupt. Friends of mine have gone down there and been beaten and robbed by prostitutes, strippers and their associates. Others have been stopped by the police for no reason and have had guns held to their heads and forced to do things they didn't want to do. No one is going to take your side if you inadvertently get into trouble down there. You may find yourself beaten, thrown in jail or worse... just for trying to help.

Unfortunately Tijuana has a Red Zone like each and every city in the world.
And this is tolerated because "tourists", mainly Americans, go to Tijuana to solicitate their services.
The government does what they can to ensure their safety but of course there is corruption, pedophiles, HIV, STD, and everything that comes with it.
This is not particular of Tijuana, as I said, even the littlest town has its own red zone.

I think that you can help by not supporting it, not requesting their services.

The people in Tijuana are really annoyed that the "tourism" they get is: Americans, mostly eighteen year olds and under twenty one who go there to get drunk, stoned, and solicitate.
They hate it, they don't support it.

The people in Tijuana really hate this fact, that the tourism the city gets is that kind of tourism, and not cultural or family oriented tourism.

All the bars in the Revolución Avenue are designed for Americans, who want and love the tequila shots, the cheap sex, the getting wasted, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of people don't like that either, but you know that I am right when I say that that is the mainly tourist attraction. It’s sad but true.

Most of Americans that go to Tijuana never visit the Tijuana's Cultural Center, the malls, the really nice restaurants and hotels.

Not even the bars that locals go to, those are nicer and good places to go out and not located in that area.
The same as you, that maybe you never visit that zone in your own city.

You can help by not going to that area. If those places didn't have business they will not exist. These only happens in the border towns where American go to party. Local people do not go to that area and actually dislike very much the idea of having those place in the city.
