always ask the taxi driver how much before getting into the taxi. when you get off the plane and go through customs you will pick up your luggage. there will be two or three guards before the exit. if you walk through with a green light the door slides open to the lobby. if it turns red you will get your stuff searched. once you walk through that door you will be hit by time share people and polietly tell them no thanks and walk out the front door. either you will get on a bus provided by your travel agent or you will need to get a taxi. bring lots of ones for tipping, dont drink the water at all!

we stayed at the golden crown two years ago and loved it. will admit the water is not too pretty on that end because it is off the bay. you will have a great and safe time.

Tip your bartenders and maids. They will treat you like royalty. I drank the water and I was just fine. Mexico has come along ways . . . Hit up the club Hilo! It was definately the most hopping place every night I was there.

Been there five times. The city has really cleaned up. Bring comfortable clothes and just go and have fun. Travel with friends and don't go out at night alone. Don't drink so much alcohol as to get sick. Stay hydrated. Lot's of sunscreen.

Take lots of pics and bring extra of what you need - batteries, personals, etc. Best to stick to cooked foods and stick to bottled water.

I'll go for an all inclusive deal. Riu Jalisco isn't in Puerto Vallarta but Nuevo Vallarta, there's a difference in location and price range. My tip: always agree with your cab driver as to how much he's goning to charge you before getting in and you don't have to tip the guy, he probably charged you with the tip already.

Take alot of $1 bills even though you are on an all inclusive meal plan you still have to tip. Brush your teeth with bottled water, and buy a first class plane ticket. Where are you staying? We stayed last year at Riu Jalisco and went on the Canopy La Vista (very cool zip line) also the Las Caletas 'Paradise Found' was awesome. Have fun.

Have fun...never leave the resort alone...just got back yesterday...love the place.

Relax! It is merely a slice of paradise. We even have electricity! You can drink the water in restaurants, your room will have a large jug of purified water and every corner has a shop selling among other things small bottles of water. Try to carry one with you every day, esp. between 10am and 3pm. Bring a hat or cap for protecting your face, good eye glasses for sun screen, and sunscreen lotion for your exposed body. Use 2 times a day or after swimming. Do not worry about before your arrival. Use your head....don't over imbibe alcohol, drink tons of water, get at least 6 hours sleep and don't get wild and crazy. Many people get sick and think it is from the food but it was possibly from their partying. But do really enjoy yourself.
