Mazatlan is a fun place to go.

Some airlines have cancelled flights into Mexico from Canada and USA to Mexico until the end of May (although they are making return flights available) and have offered customers re-booking priveleges to anywhere else, valid until Oct 2009.

Mexico has shut down schools, public places and functions where large numbers of people congregate until May 6th. That is not to say that the flu crisis will be over by then.

Wait. There is a high likelihood that it will be over by then. If not, I am sure your airline/travel company will re-book you for a later date. Check with them.

The media is way over hyping this virus and politicans are over reacting to cover thier butt. Less then 200 people have died of it in Mexico out of a population of over 100 million. That is 0.0002% of the population. For comparision, In the US about 36,000 people die of the standard flu every year. You literally have a higher chance of being struck by lighting, around .0003%, then dying of the swine flu in mexico.

Only exceptions are if you are a senior citizen, an infant, going to mexico city directly or bringing kids. All these are higher risk cases that i would reconsider.

Look, seriously, you'll be fine, ideally things will be a bit clearer over the next few weeks but the flu has spread anyway and I am sure that things in Matzalan will be ok. The media have blown it out of proportion a bit, sure it originates from Mexico, but so long as you avoid Mexico City the risks will be pretty much just the same as in the U.S. Still research it before you go and make an extra effort in terms of hygiene, but don't let it stop your honeymoon. Think about it, they made the same hoo ha about bir-flu, how we woould all be wiped out, what happened to that?
Oh yeah congratulations by the way and whatever you choose to do have a good time.

no, i don't think it is a good idea. cancel the reservation and flight, and see whether you can get a refund. your health is more important. if you REALLY want to go to mexico, leave it till some other time, not when there is this swine flu. go somewhere else for your honeymoon.

gramof6
No see if you can rebook maybe to Puna Cana.

sarahjane1973
I wouldn't. See if there's a refund available and go elsewhere.

Hello, There is NO Health RISK in this area at all. There are NO Travel Alerts are issued for this area at all. The strong swine type of flu is all over the world now, not just Mexico City. The W.H.O. says, "To restrict travel would be useless and not helpful". Please call me directly in Cancun at 1-888-335-1996 I have lived here 8 years. Anyone that says Mexico is not safe is an uninformed fear-monger and not a very smart person. They are only out to spread fear without knowing the facts, plain and simple.

Jessie
i don't think so... health is the most important.

caitlin
I would still go. The flu has now moved into the US so if your gonna get sick your gonna get sick no matter where you are. Go on your honeymoon and have fun =D

Absolutley not! They have canceld schools, events and even cruise lines have cancelled stops to Mexico. Unless you want to be fataly ill, do not go near there until they figure out how to contain the sickness.
