I think you no need to worry. I'm planning my next trip to Mexico. I did a lot more research to find out information. Still i didn't come across any issues and i took the final decision to go there. So ok to go.... |

The Mafia operates worldwide. I woudn't be too preocupied. None the less, you should take the regular precautions that tourists do when they go to other cities/countries. |

Mexico is safe, the borders are the ones with conflict and not even all of them, so far I have only heard of Reynosa.
I think the US Govt does not want all the spring breakers spending their money in Mexico, they would rather have them spend the money in the US, and we are talking about millions.
They have generalized like if all Mexico was at war and that is not true, and where the spring breakers go usually are to the beaches, and those are probably the safest places in Mexico.
and well not to mention now 1 dollars = 15 pesos, |

It all depends where are you going, touristic places have more security around, also it helps if you know someone who lives there to guide you. Otherwise people might see you as a lost tourist and try to take advantage of you (money wise). |
