Travel to mexico? |
I need to travel to Mexico but I have not renewed my passport since getting married. The passport is not expired but does not have my married name on it. Can I buy a ticket under my maiden name and travel with the passport? |

In Mexico you don´t use the married name, just buy the ticket with the same name of your passport. |

have you officially changed your name? meaning....does your birth certifcate, social security number, or drivers license reflect your married name? if so....you have to change the passport too. if you haven't "officially" adopted your new last name, then you are ok! changing your passport was one of the things you should have done when doing all the other paper...and right now the waiting list is VERY long.
i believe they are/are considering, waiving the passport requirement for another several months because of the backlog. you might try and get the most up to date information on this...i would suggest calling the airline. it may be that you don't need the passport after all!
in the worst case...you could travel by car/bus/or foot to mexico and then take a flight from there. if you go by land, you don't need the passport right now. |

Well its illegal if you use your madain name once you have changed it. You should be able to go down and have your name changed on your passport I know that is what my mom had to do when she got married. It was no big deal at all for this change since you have a passport allready and you have your marriage licence then they can just make a new passport for you. The office wont have to put you through all the waiting on a back ground check and what not sice you have one already. Here is a web page for you to look at on what you need to do and there is a form you can print and fill out for this change of name you have but you have a year for this change on your passport. |

Bring the passport and the marriage license. The passport office is months behind in processing. If you apply for a change and get some kind of receipt or paper work, that should be enough. The US government at work...or not. |
