I used my American Express card almost exclusively in Puerto Vallarta last year. They give a very good exchange rate, and have very low fees. It is not accepted everywhere, so I would bring cash and a visa and mastercard, but most major services accept it where I was. |

you just might have worry abou the exchange rates though
you could check with American express for more info |

Most restaurants, hotels, department stores and even some places such as wal-mart will accept AMEX. Make sure to get traveler's checks (try to get them in 10, 20 and 50)
Someone else told you about VISA and MasterCard, if you have one of those, bring it along, as those are accepted in most establishments, and you'll find an ATM everywhere |

There are many places in Mexico where American Express is not accepted, u can bring some cash just in case. |

they should be able to take that card because it is american express and it is one of the the most major cards there are for spending so i do not see why not. |

Many many more places use VISA and MC. Almost totally for ATMs |

I just returned from the Riviera Maya (near Cancun). I saw Amex accepted almost everywhere I went. The foreign exchange fee was also lower than my Citibank Visa card (2% vs. 3%). Most cards charge a foreign exchange fee, but there are a few that don't--you may want to research those (I think MBNA has one) if you plan on using your CC a lot. Have a good vacation! |
