Vacation Dilema Help Please!!!!!? |
Hi everyone!!!! My friends and I are planning a vacation to Puerto Vallarta we are booking everything online and doing research ourselves. Travel agencies charge tooo much!!!!!!! so we decided to do it ourselves. We have not found too much information on things to do, places to visit or ratings/experience on Puerto Vallarta. The few people we know that have visited would not recommend it. They say it is BORING and there is not much to do for young people in their 20s. Please share your experience if you have visited Puerto Vallarta, places to visit?, places to stay? things to do? nearby cities or towns? any tips, suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated thank you!!!!! =) We are planning to take the vacation mid to late August!!! =) |

well, I hope you like the humidity and cold drinks because you'll find both at that time of year. There's plenty of things to do in PV for the younger set. Just depends on what you like to do.
There are Jungle Excursions, air parachute sails, fishing, sailing, golf, tennis, downtown area and old section past the river for bargain shopping, walk along the malecon south and cross over to the plaza. usually every weekend they have some sort of festivity going on.., tequila festivsal, music, models with latest styles. Have lunch at Hooter's or , better yet, at one of the small open air restaurants, cafes in the old section. Greeeeat food, cold beers. You can take a bus from several places and go to Tepic, the capitol of Nayarit, the next state north. Or south bay by Mismaloya. Internet service cafesare all over to keep in touch....cheap one is on ground floor at Mega.. a giant supermarket on the main drag as you head to old town.... lots of shopping areas. take a bus to Punta de Mita for the day... have lunch on the beach under a palapa covered table... watch the bay, toes digging in the sand, in the shade as you suck on a few cold ones....stop at Bucerias on the way back to PV. It's a small community on the beach with a laid back, quiet atmosphere, shops, cafes, etc...take a bus over to Nuevo Vallarta to Paradise Village. You pass the big water slide park. Walk around Paradise Village area.... ck out the PV websites that tell all about PV and the activities there......That time of year, late in the afternoon, thunderstorms come rolling in at times... It'll rain for a while, lots of lightning and thunder...and I mean RAIN> But it's o.k. warm but the roads often get too much standing water... I usually find a nice bar and wait it out if I'm not too far from home.....If you like to party, there's a lot of bars, open cafes on the malecon for the younger set...loud music, lots of drinks, good views to watch the people walk by..often they have concerts with Mexican rock stars.....It's not Cabo nor does it want to be. but PV has somethijng for everyone.....young and old alike.......beaches aren't the greatest in that area... you have a few rivers running into the bay so the water is often cloudy..... for snorkeling or swimming I'd try Sayulita area or along highway to Punta de Mita or south bay.....buses are running all over the place and cost very little....I think they're now around 8 pesos or so...that's .80 cents.....take a short trip to Pittilal.....if you forget anything, go to WalMart just across the street where the cruise ships land......here are some sites that may assist....
www.x-rates.com for cureent money exchange rates....HSBC across the street and down a bit from Staple's (?), Carl's (?)usually has the best exchange rate.

hope this all helps...... my wife is presently in Puerto Vallarta and I'll call her in a few hours. If you need any other info, let me know and I can ask her.... she won't return until mid-June. |

I'm also going in a couple of weeks and I've heard the that canopy tour is amazing. I've looked into it, I think its $80 a person for a 4 hour zip-line tour. Sounds great! |

Dear Grisel
You can walk by the malecon every night, just spectacular to see what´s going on there, different activities, musicians, people performing and singing, it is just spectacular.
You can visit the bars and world famous discos by the malecon. Wonderful atmosphere.
Also you can get a little boat to take you to Los Arcos (The big rocks) to snorkel. This is a protected area just for snorkeling. They will provide all the equipment.
Swim with the dolphins. That is cool.
Go to Punta de Mita and get a boat to take you to the Marietas Islands. You can snorkel through the caves and get to the interior beach of one of the islands. Turquoise water and white sands.
Get a Canopy tour. So much fun.
Go to Chicos paradise for a nice lunch, right on the river, you can swim right there or the other choise is Chino´s where they have a waterfall and wonderful fresh seafood. (this place is into the jungle, very beaitiful).
Go to a great beach and just rest, rest, rest, in the spectacular beach of Conchas Chinas, Las Estacas, Garza Blanca, Destiladeras, Yelapa, Quimixto, Las Animas, etc.
Experience the second gourmet destination of Mexico (Pueto Vallarta) with some of the best restaurants in the world.
Go to La Palapa Restaurant, right on the beach, get a table on the sand and feel the water of the waves to get all the way to your feet. The best sea food in Vallarta and most romantic restaurant.
One day tour to the old town of San Sebastian, this is a must. It stopped in time for 300 years, you can drive or go in the airplane by Vallarta Adventures.
Go to the Art Walk, it is once a week.
Go to Yelapa beach by the water taxi.
Get the pirats ship in the evening for a fun trip around the bay.
Have diner at Las Carmelitas, on top of the mountain with the MOST spectacular view of the whole city.
Get a ride parasailing, so much fun, I did it 15 times already.
Have a good margarita on the beach with your boyfriend or friends, enjoy the sun, enjoy the nature and also the wonderful people of Puerto Vallarta.
Need more ! !
Best luck, |

Puerto Vallarta is fun and exciting. It has everything anyone could ever want. It just depends on what you want to do. If you don't have a hotel yet, the hotel Rosita is on the malecon and it is simple and nice. If you want to see and do something different like see deserted beaches, visit old Mexican towns, climb waterfalls and hike in the jungles, snorkel in crystal clear water or learn to surf than contact Pedro at bpascuales@yahoo.com.mx. You can find him at the beach at the Holiday Inn in the Hotel Zone. He is a native Vallartan and can give you a private individualized tour. Plus he's a terrific guy to know. Have fun and don't over-plan. Be open to new adventures and you'll have a memorable trip. I guarantee it! |

You can find out about EVERYTHING, including what is going on in the city and area at www.vallartaonline.com You can even reserve your room, rent a condo or book your tours or golf courses and read about everything that will be happening that week as well as find maps for all the area. |

Go to http://www.flybymetravel.com and click on "Extras" then on "tickets and attractions" in the middle. Next select your destination and it'll give you a number of attractions, tours, and activities to do.
From what I've heard it is a slower paced resort town than Cancun and others.
I was looking at the all inclusive Solaris Resorts package in Cancun and it looks pretty cool. All inclusive starts at about $106.25
In any case, this site is always competatively priced. You should be aware that their listed prices are front loaded with tax and fees. Unlike the other guys where you have to wait until you're ready to book the thing before you know exactly how much it's going to cost. |
