We're going to Puerto Vallarta in mid-Oct. Where are some good places to go that aren't so touristy? |
We'd like to see the local side of PV. |

By saying touristy do you mean the white tourist "gringos" or the local tourist meaning the meaxicans who come for vacation as well.
You also didnt say what your intrest were and what the aim was to be away from the tourist areas i will run general idea of what is where in regards to the tourist and theh Mexican population.
If you mean places minus the Gringo tourist then go to Talpa, San Sabastien, mascota, Ameca, Tomatlan, These are beautiful, clean, nice and you will see the Mexcian weay of life.
If you go to places like San Pancho, Sayaulita, La penita, Guyabitos, Los ayala, Punta De Mita, Bucerias, La cruz etc then all you will see be white folks walking around with noi shirts and big bellys and with beer in their hands. |

Vallarta is not touristy at all! Just go downtown. stay at a downtown hotel. the resorts/large hotels are north of teh city are way away from downtown and feel just like being in the US. |

you have got to go to club 69, that is by the beach....right downtown. But beware of the chicks in the helmet with tequila....they will force you shots, the trick is you have to pay for the shot after you have taken it....have fun....and there are alot of other places to go i can't remember their name....like hola....it's a nice place by the beach....stay in the netted tent...cause people will come by and try to sell you stuff...but at the same place are fun jet skis....it's fun |

Old Vallarta is the best.
You will find lots of tourists in PV!
Nuevo Vallarta is just a strip of hotels that could be anywhere in the world!
Perhaps if you wish to avoid tourists you could get on a bus and go out into the country and work in the fields!
I am sure they would appreciate your help! |

I had one of the most amazing experiences of my life in Puerto Vallarta with my boyfriend. It was romantic and fun. We spent alot of time at this Cubano bar called Bodega. This place was really authentic and the people there could dance like professionals. It was fantastic! The best dancers come on a certain night but I can't remember what day of the week it was. Probably Friday-might of been Thursday though. Anyway, you must try the Mojitos, but watch out because they taste great and get to you quickly. It is located on the strip but kind of before all the Americanized bars.
There are some great restaurants (really fancy) if you go a block or two inward behind the strip as if you walked out of the sea and walked straight ahead. I think we spotted these from a bus from the hotel area. The place we had dinner was really hip and stylish. Sorry I can't be more specific. |
