If you know that a hurricane is coming the smart thing to do is to look for a safe place but because of your stubbornness you don't want to leave then you are going to risk your life, something that is more important than all the material that you own. Materials you could replace but not your life. Good luck and rethink your plan.

my mom is in hermosillo visiting relatives so i'm slightly concerned as well. however, it looks like the hurricane is expected to weaken as it gets closer to colder waters. it'll probably lose some strength as it passes over the baja peninsula so by the time it hits sonora it'll probably just be windy and really rainy. but we'll see. you neverk now with these things. try heading inland if you're that worried about it.

The biggest problem we've seen with hurricanes here (we're a few hours south of you) is the residual flooding. They just don't do "drainage" around here. You're far enough north and east that the most you'll get is a little wind and rain. Be smart -- don't park in a low spot, don't park under a big ol' tree, don't drive into 3 feet of water -- and you'll be fine. Good idea to stock up on water and candles (not sure what you'll need where you are -- we're pretty rural, so we lose power a lot.) Recommendation: take a peek at what your neighbors are doing and do likewise! Maybe we're locos but we're just pulling in the patio furniture and tying down the pool cover.

Hope all goes welll. Check out this site for satellite images and updates. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml?epac

yeah, the guy before me is right...

you don't HAVE to stay. You have a truck right?

Get in your truck and get as far away from the path of the hurricane as possible..

If you value your life, i'd get out of its way while you can...

A Category 4 hurricane is extremely dangerous...

Relax, it is a few days away. Once Norbert hits land the winds die down. By the time it reaches Obregon it will be down to a tropical storm with some wind and rain.
