Here is a link I have found very useful. It gives you previous years history of weather dating back to 1996- 2007. It covers a 14 day period. Aug 23-Sept 6. You can adjust the dates if you need to.
Just keep in mind it is hurricane season and the weather is very unpredictable. Be sure to take out travel insurance that covers tropical storms.

It will he HOT! I have always went in the winter months like Jan-Feb and it was in the 80's,so i would imagine you will be in the 90's at the least.You will have a lot of fun.

The average temperature in Cancun during late August and September is 82 degrees, but it feels like it is 90 degrees. Days usually are 77-89. Rain usually occurs around 4PM should there be any rain. It is least likely to occur around 6PM. Have a wonderful time, but remember to check with your hotel prior to leaving, as to the safety of the area that you are heading to.

It's quite pleasant, warm, could have a hurricane come and dampen your time. Please get travel insurance and make sure you go by an air carrier from the U.S. They will refund your money if the trip has to be cancelled. I know, I had it happen last year. We also went in October and had the same thing happen. We had Mexicana for our air and they wouldn't refund, they made us go to another part of Mexico within the year we purchased the tickets.
