What's a cheap way to call mexico?

my girlfriend moved there and i wont get to see her till spring break
i know it's like $0.19 a minute, please tell me there is a cheaper way?!
she doesn't have a cell phone or access to a computer.
Just her "home phone."

I looked at at&t calling cards, but I don't have 30 dollars to spend to lower the price from $0.19 to $0.06 a minute.

Surely there's a cheaper almost free way to call Mexico, isnt there? :(

(I'm in the U.S)

Depending on whereabouts in Mexico she has moved you can call her for between 1.5¢ and 7¢ per minute (as in $0.07 or less) with Localphone.com.

It is a prepaid service, but you can add as little as $1 at a time so that shouldn’t be a problem.

You give your number in the US, and your girlfriend’s number in Mexico, and in return are given an access number to dial that is just a normal landline number that is local to you. When you dial this from your phone it will call straight through to her - no account number or PIN.

If you have free minutes to US landlines as part of your home phone / cellphone contract the call to the access number should be included as part of this.

Hope that helps you make it through to Spring Break :)

i have to 2nd someone elses answer. My husband is from Mexico and we would always go and get a calling card from the Mexican Store. Some are better than others. Now they have a computer in Mexico and we have ours, so we use Skype to talk with them since its free.

I would go to a mexican restaurant or a mexican store and buy a phone card specifically for calling Mexico. There are various ones, depending on where she lives, "home phones" in mexico are sometimes phones where you have to buy phone card with minutes instead of getting a monthly bill like we do here for our "land lines". If she has this kind of phone and not an actual landline, like we do here, I would get a phone card the says cellular on it. It gives you more minutes. Try several ones to find the best.

When using the phone card, most come with directions. You call the number, punch in the pin #, then her phone number starting with 01152 or 011521 and then her phone number depending again on what kind of phone she has. Try the other one if the first one does not work.

Too bad she doesn't have access to a PC. I could tell you how to make basically free calls to each other.

my husband is in mexico and calling from our house phone is pretty expensive.. i use a clling card called cuauhtemina and for $5 i talk for around 3 1/2 hours its really good and easy to use and i know that you can purchase them online if you cant find them near you... but a lot of other cards i tried will tell you that you have so many min. and when you use it for the 1st time you may talk for 5 min and it sayd that you have talked for 25 min. with this card i have never had a problem.. but just keep in mind that if they have a local number that you can call to use that instead of the 1800 b/c it uses more and if you call from a home phone to a house phone it is also cheaper.. good luck..

I do a moderate amount of international calling and I have found that AT&T (land line) has that best rates overall. I know they have a unlimited calling plan to Mexico, i think it is about a $20 add on. I would calling AT&T.

Jane
Go to a convenience store and buy a prepaid calling card there. They are much cheaper.
