The state of Veracruz is the most beautiful. I has beaches, mountains, is very green (not dry and brown like many areas).

Campeche...not a lot of people, nice and hot, and it has both coastal (Gulf side) and jungle landscapes. Plus not really a far drive to Cancun should there be a desire to be in a populous place to party.
