What's the best way to get from the Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen? |
I know I'm a tightwad but I can't understand why it costs $45 per person to take a shuttle from Cancun to Playa. Isn't there a better way to go? There are three of us.

You are absolutely correct.......45.00 per person is ridiculous. Go to www.cancun.com and click on shuttles. There is also ADO bus in downtown Cancun and on 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen. Cost is 3.50 each way per person. Of course, you would need to get to the bus station and that would cost. Best Day travel is the best way to go. I think the cost is 23.00 per person one way or 45.00 per person round trip. This is the best price available and very convenient. Very good service!! Check it out....but you won't beat the price. |

I have gone many times just use the ADO bus , they are very confortable with a/c and the price is $45 pesos per person ($4 american dollars) it is the cheaper way, and it is very safe. the taxi are really expensive around US$50 per taxi |

Take the bus.
There's a bus terminal inside the airport and you catch the bus in the main parking lot. I believe the ticket is only 80 pesos, and it'll drop you off right smack dab in the heart of Playa del Carmen.
From where they drop you off you can walk about 5 blocks and catch the ferry over to Cozumel Island. Its beautiful there, and very very touristy (if you're into that).
The point is... the bus is the best way to go. |

By Bus.
As soon as you arrive to cancuns airport, you will be surrounded by Taxi drivers offering the $45 shuttles to Playa.........dont waste your time with them.....just look at the ADO (Autobuses De Oriente) stand located just beside the Taxis .......Bus tickets will cost each of you only USD$8 to Playa..........
Also in Playa there are lockers (USD$5 per day) and a hostal (USD$10 dollars per person per day)......I usually want to stay longer in Playa but cant find any rooms at the hotel so I decided to stay one more night at the hostal in front the Bus Station (Called El Palomar)....a bargain... |
