In addition to the forementioned states, Florida was ceded to USA by Spain 9 years into the 11 year war for Mexican Independence. You could argue that Spain by this point knew they were going to lose the war, and was cashing out.
The land grab was very hurtful to the Mexican independence movement. Initially, many leaders in Mexico believed that USA would be very sympathetic to their war because of the similarity to the USA war of independence and the War of 1812.

President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna lost the war Mexico vs United States so The states took The north territories of Mexico in 1853. In the same year Santa Anna sold "La Mesilla Territory for 10 000 pesos which is now part os Arizona
