It is the profession of one who is not employed, usually homeless, that asks people on the street to provide them with money (usually coins) to buy basic things like food etc.

It is people who say they will work for food, but when you offer them a job, they spit at you.

I live in the Philippines ~~~ here they train kids to beg. Giving them a piece of candy stops them for a while. As far as the grownups are concerned, Prague in the Czech republic is not much better.

And then there was the guy in Washington DC, well dressed, always standing in front of the Metro so he could get a ride home.

they are people who need money. they will wash your window when you are waiting at the lights (be careful-they will jump/slide on your hood to wipe the middle of your window), they are kids selling candy, they are kids selling necklaces, walking around with them, they are plain beggers. There is this one guy where I live, who offers to wash your window, but the rag looks oily, or he will beg for a smoke, or he will "help" you back out your car. and if you say no, he just stares at you. it will be the entire light, until oyu get up if you are sitting at teh front of a restaurant...point is, you never know if they have something wrong in their head...be careful
