I'm more of a hippie that likes the rustic hotels. I love the Camino Real Manzanillo (awesome architecture, you feel like you're in Tatooine living in uncle Owen's house!!).
It's rustic but that's how I like that hotel, is the Fortin de las Flores hotel in FortÃn Veracruz. Nice place to rest and it has awesome breakfast buffets. The ideal place to just relax in the sun doing nothing.
As for luxury, how about the Acapulco Princess? Pompous looking, lots of fancy pools, all of the pompous stuff to make tourists grin in glee. Curiously, despite it all, it isn't as expensive as I thought.
