Yes, you can use Canadian dollars. That would be fine. They take all kinds of different monetary in CancĂșn. The best thing to do is when you get to your hotel/resort is go to the front desk and they have a concierge that handles the money transfers. Just exchange your CAN dollars and they will give you the amount in Pesos (which is the MEXICAN dollars). You can also exchange at the airport also. Pesos and US dollars are the most commonly used down in CancĂșn. Just remember anytime you buy something though they are going to give you your change back in Pesos, but like I mentioned you can just use the front desk of your hotel to change back to whatever money you want. Have fun....CancĂșn is a blast! |

You should use pesos. You can easily exchange your money at the airport. |

It's better to use pesos for your cash purchases. They will accept anything but there is no law regarding the rate that they have to give you. Gas stations exchange at the rate of 9 to 1.
- My ATM charges me $1 per withdrawal + 1% of the amount withdrawn. |

it does not matter, there are plenty of banks and money changes, I have never, ever had any problem using dollars.
If you convert to Pesos, you will get a 10% better deal generally |

You can definetly use dollars in Cancun - if you want to change it over you can do that at the airport before your flight as well. We go to Cancun and we never change our dollars over.
Have fun! |

Bring some Canadian down for the airport and a taxi, but after that just go to an ATM machine and take money out as needed. |

Bring a few hundred and your ATM card. Getting pesos from an ATM is the best exchange rate ... and paying with pesos will reduce the confusion for you and them
Tell your ATM company you'll be in Mexico |

It is best to change your money into pesos at a bank in Cancun, because if you use Canadian or American money in stores and restaurants, you will not get as good of a rate. If you change it other places than a bank, you will not get as good of an exchange rate also. There are many banks in the hotel zone. You can also use an atm or credit card many places, although I've heard that some of them charge you a fee for use out of the country- best to check with your credit card company. Also, let your credit card company know you're going out of the country- sometimes they will put a freeze on your account if they see a lot of activity overseas, and they don't know that you are traveling. Good luck! |
