Mexican insurance, and the title. If you have a lien on it, you need a letter from your bank. You will get a sticker at the border that you have to renew every 6 months. |

passport, and answers. you will sound quite suspicious to an immigration guard if you say you are going to stay "for an unknown period". you could be turned away.

Make sure you have a passport if you plan on returning in the future. In January 2007 you will need one to fly back to the U.S. In 2008 you will need one to drive back.
Upon entry into Mexico, they will ask you how long you are planning to stay. |

NOTIFY YOU INSURANCE COMPANY TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PROPER COVERAGE.
HONESTLY--BETTER TO RENT A CAR AND DRIVE IT ACROSS--FAR LESS GRIEF--ACCIDENT AND THEFT...
AND THAT IS A TRUE FACT..... |

youe need your car free of liens and have the necessary documents to prove it and insurance which you can purchase at the border...
Have a good trip but do not expect to stay indefinitely and you will have to take your car out of Mexico at the place where you crossed in the border to get in. |

Talk to the boarder patron people about the areas you’re going to. Some of the Mexicans seam nice, epically when I was helping build a fence in Arizona, one of them on the other side was telling me I was number one but using the wrong finger Thus, learn some Spanish and/or carry a interpretation book. Better yet, take a tour guide Mexican with you Try not going anywhere alone and stay in numbers. Rent a car if you can and if not either way find out if your insurance covers past 50 miles past the boarder. Make a check list including maps, Passport, traveler checks, water, cash, cell phone. Oh, please make sure you cell phone carry cover the areas your at. If not, get a prepaid phone in that area. Review this with the boarder patrol again before you go. Have a great trip. |

It depends where you are going in Mexico. If you are in the boarder area depending on the auto insurance policy you currently have some in the boarder region only cover a few kilometers into Mexico. However there is auto insurance you can purchase for driving into Mexico just ask the company you have insurance with for some information if they have insurance to cover the area and how long you will be in Mexico. If they do not have any coverage in Mexico they will point you in the right direction.
Also be careful of any scams you might see on line...just contact your insurance agent. |

you need to go to the mexican consulate, here in the US, take the vehicle's registration, ur drivers license, and ur birth certificate if ur born here or ur green card...it will cost u about $49.00 to get ur car permit which u must display on the windshield....if ur an adult u can also get a permit there for urself but i believe that if u take minors they dont need any kind of paperwork....safe trip, have fun!!! |
